Laurie grew up as a pastor’s kid and then married a pastor of her own. She and JP have 2 kids in high school and 1 in college (which is weird, because they were just in college themselves). They are planting New City Fellowship PCA, a cross-cultural church in Orangeburg, SC.
Laurie teaches kindergarten and writes stories—leveled books for kids just learning how to read and romantic suspense novels for their moms. She's also a freelance line editor, and enjoys cooking dinner, crocheting, and napping (not necessarily in that order).

In 2026, I co-founded a YA flash fiction magazine with my friend Christine Boatwright. My role is Editorial Director.
A young adult flash fiction magazine—quarterly, free, and everything clean and creative.
Sparkler is a beacon in the darkness that is much of the YA publishing world. We want to hold up a sizzling light that draws readers--both teens and their parents--into a community that over good stories. A lively blaze that will spread the word about authors who are busy writing clean, exciting, age-appropriate YA books. And we'd love to prove to the Christian publishing world that the market is bursting for these kinds of stories.
